MISL Lunch Seminar for Engineers: Using Joint Reinforcement As Primary Shear Reinforcement
May 17 @ 12:00 am - 1:00 pm
TMS 402, Building Code Requirements for Masonry Structures, allows joint reinforcement to satisfy minimum seismic reinforcement requirements and to serve as primary shear reinforcement in concrete masonry shear walls for both allowable stress design (ASD) and strength design (SD). Max Porter will discuss the history of using joint reinforcement as shear reinforcement, recent research supporting that use, and related TMS 402 code provisions.
