COCA’s 2016 Fall Conference (Oct 20): Contemporary Issues in Construction – “Annual OSHA Updates; OSHA Alliance – What it Means to Partner w/OSHA; and Certifying Safety Specialists”

The Council of Owners and Construction Associates, Inc. (COCA, Inc) is sponsoring a conference entitled “Contemporary Issues in Construction” – “Annual OSHA Updates; OSHA Alliance – What it Means to Partner w/OSHA; and Certifying Your Safety Specialists”.  It will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (lunch 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.) at the Gateway Center, One Gateway Drive, Collinsville, IL  62234, Ph 618-345-8998,

Our speakers will be Mr. John Langford, Corporate Safety Director, James McHugh Construction Co.; Mr. Dustin Miller, Compliance Assistant Specialist, U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA; Mr. Adam Micun, Vice-President – Midwest, TekSolv; Mr. Rick Reams, Director of Business Development – Midwest Operations, TekSolv, Inc; and Ms. Dianna Braud, CAE, COSS, National Programs Director, Alliance Safety Council.  Topics will include “Annual OSHA Updates”; “What it Means to Partner w/OSHA”; and “Certifying your Safety Specialist”.

This conference begins by offering an opportunity to hear first-hand from the experts in the field of Safety about the changes occurring in Washington with OSHA and how it can impact your company.  Learn the latest information about proposed changes in the Construction Standard and what to expect in the coming months.  It will also offer details about what companies must do to stay in compliance with 29CFR 1926, the Construction Industry Standard.

The remainder of the conference will focus on the American Allied Safety Council’s (AASC) new alliance with OSHA, COCA, TekSolv and the Southwestern Illinois Building and Construction Trades Council.  The OSHA representative will explain the support the AASC and the entire construction industry has from OSHA, taking safety in the heavy construction sector to the next level through training and education programming.  You will hear about a new program called the Certified Occupational Safety Specialist Program, being offered by AASC designed to expose key employees to the latest fundamentals in the area of occupational safety.

Who Should Attend:  Owners, Contractors, Project Managers and Safety Professionals that have a need to stay informed about OSHA Compliance, including new standards and future initiatives.  Everyone interested in improving their overall safety knowledge and performance in the construction industry.
