Facility managers must ensure their buildings comply with OSHA standards. The St. Louis Chapter of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) will review key OSHA Updates on providing safe and healthful workplaces for employees.
Bill McDonald, CSP, Area Director of the OSHA St. Louis Area Office, will update facility managers on new OSHA regulations. Important topics will include home-based worksites and home offices. As telecommuting continues to increase, along with home offices, employers still are responsible for ensuring the safety and health of employees.
- Home-Based Worksite: The areas of an employee’s personal residence where the employee performs work of the employer.
- Home Office: Office work activities in a home-based worksite (e.g., filing, keyboarding, computer research, reading, writing). Such activities may include the use of office equipment (e.g., telephone, facsimile machine, computer, scanner, copy machine, desk, file cabinet).
McDonald has served with distinction as the Area Director of the St. Louis Area OSHA Office since 2001. Throughout his career with OSHA, Bill has been tasked to serve on various national and regional task forces and serve in numerous leadership positions Nationwide. Bill has also been recognized for his work in promoting private/public partnerships in the reduction of injuries, illnesses, and fatalities by the National Home Builders Association. Bill was privileged to serve in the US Air Force and has also earned the distinction of Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
