Facility managers know the importance of a roof over the heads of employees in commercial buildings. Green roofs take that a step further, offering numerous advantages. Experts will discuss this during a program sponsored by the St. Louis chapter of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA).

Drew Bade, Bade Roofing Co., will discuss key elements in selecting the right roof and roofing contractor to ensure energy savings and the roof’s integrity, including:

  • Choosing the right roofing contractor
  • The various roof system options and their components
  • The importance of enhanced roof systems
  • Insulation and R-value
  • Installation methods and best practices
  • Tips for maintaining your roof

Roxanne Nagel, a degreed horticulturist, green roof professional (GRP) and co-owner of Roof Top Sedums LLC, will address the benefits and maintenance requirements of green roofs.

Learn more from Nagel about the specifics of how a green roof:

  • Achieves biophilic design benefits
  • Increases building value and protection
  • Provides stormwater management solutions
  • Contributes to LEED certification
  • Can be designed and maintained successfully
