Kadean Construction extends senior living construction expertise
Kadean Construction has been tapped by Friendship Village, one of the region’s most comprehensive senior living communities, to manage and construct 12 new luxury villas in Friendship Village Sunset Hill’s Phase 1D expansion, it was announced today.
The expansion includes the construction of six, two-unit ranches within the development located on 52-acres at 12563 Village Circle Drive, Sunset Hills, in South St. Louis County.
The Sunset Hills community, which was started in 1978, provides a range of services from independent senior living in apartment homes and villas to Friendship Village’s 61-apartment Fountain View, which offers residential-style assisted living. Friendship Village also operates a sister community, Friendship Village Chesterfield.
The new units to be built by Kadean Construction are two- bedroom frame units ranging from 1,200 to 1900 sq. ft., with and without dens and finished basements. The $5 million expansion will be developed on Knighton Trail, a cul-de-sac on the northern side of the senior living community.
Each unit will start at $300,000, and will include Friendship Village’s Life Care benefit.
Construction is due to be completed by November 1, said Mike Eveler, president of Kadean Construction, which has completed a variety of construction projects for many of the St. Louis region’s largest independent and assisted living communities.
“We’re looking forward to breaking ground and getting started,” Eveler said. “There’s a substantial demand for this type of development. So, with our strong track record in senior living communities and our dedication to quality workmanship, this will be a great project.”
Friendship Village Sunset Hills includes 385 existing apartments and villas and a variety of common areas, such as a new 27,000 sq. ft. clubhouse, dining venues, a new wellness gym, fitness center, swimming pool, media lounge, beauty shop, patio, practice putting green, chapel, water feature, and other amenities, said Terry Walsh, executive director, Friendship Village.
