/

Hastings+Chivetta President, Chris Chivetta, PE, LEED AP BD+C, along with Senior Vice President and Project Manager, Jim Gabel, AIA, LEED AP, have been invited to speak at the Tradeline University Facilities 2018 Conference, May 7-8 in Austin, TX.

The conference focuses on university capital projects and space planning ideas for high resource utilization, student life, flexibility, collaboration and cost reduction. Sessions with peer institutions and planning experts will discuss visioning, decision-making, courses of action, plans and the execution of successful facilities involving a spectrum of space types and new planning models.

Chivetta and Gabel will present on “The Student Perspective from Admission to Graduation.” Higher education institutions are facing increasing challenges in recruiting and retaining students. Based upon U.S. demographics and the reductions in international students, universities should analyze and re-evaluate their facilities from a student perspective to increase admission rates and retention. Session participants will be able to see examples of completed facilities to compare to their existing facilities and establish a prioritization of needs. Participants will also better understand how students evaluate a campus based upon their interests and needs, including student life culture.

Hastings+Chivetta Design Principal, Erik Kocher, AIA, NCARB, LEED, BD+C, along with Peter Schantz, Director of Physical Plant Planning and Operations at Ohio Wesleyan University, have been invited to speak at the Tradeline University Facilities 2018 Conference, May 7-8 in Austin, TX.

Kocher and Schantz’s presentation, “Analyze & Upgrade Physical Attributes of the Campus Admission Tour for a Direct Impact on Recruitment” examines Hastings+Chivetta’s Architecture of Enrollment Management® (AEM) service which strategically evaluates the admissions experience and its impact on attracting and retaining students. The service provides a detailed analysis of a college or university’s campus tour and what impression it may leave on prospective students, specifically looking at the elements with a direct impact on recruitment, enrollment and retention. Detailed recommendations are then provided to increase admissions success, and progress is tracked over several years. This presentation will detail an AEM case study at Ohio Wesleyan, and evaluate buildings toured, campus connectivity, classroom styles, sought-after amenities, facility action plans and costs of the improvements.
