Kadean Construction has been awarded the interior build-out for developer Trammell Crow Company of a new 202,800 square foot building at KCI Intermodal BusinessCentre, a major distribution and logistics park adjacent to Kansas City International Airport in Kansas City, MO, the company announced today.
The new $11.5 million tilt-up building – known as LogisticsCentre III – is a modern, multi-tenant, front-load warehouse/distribution facility that incorporates sustainable design and construction features. The building has 31 docks, a 32-foot high ceiling, and is constructed with a structural steel frame, tilt-up concrete walls, and a seven-inch thick reinforced concrete floor.
“We finished construction of the shell building late last year, and will now be able to complete the interior, which includes office space, common areas, and utility requirements for the warehouse/distribution operations,” said Mike Eveler, president of St. Louis-based Kadean Construction.
LogisticsCentre III is located next to LogisticsCentre II, a 423,928-square foot manufacturing facility, and near LogisticsCentre IV, a 432,640-square foot distribution center, both of which also were constructed by Kadean, said Austin Christensen, Kadean vice president who is in charge of the company’s Kansas City operation.
Additionally, Kadean recently completed Phase 3 infrastructure in the park for Trammell Crow Company. The work entailed sewers, roadways and preparation for a building pad that will host a 542,640 square foot building. Construction on that building could begin this year, Christensen said.
Kadean specializes in pre-construction, design-build, construction management, and general contracting services at the regional and national level, and focuses on light industrial, commercial, senior living, and healthcare construction.
Since 2016, Kadean has completed over $37 million of construction work in the greater Kansas City area.
Christensen said Kadean’s construction work at the KCI Intermodal BusinessCentre – which to date totals 986,960 square feet of industrial buildings — is similar to its logistics construction work at Aviator Business Park in Hazelwood, MO, and the Lakeview Commerce Center in Edwardsville, IL, which total 1,321,000 square feet and 1,540,000 square feet, respectively.
