Surgery Center in Concord to More Than Double in Size
Capitalizing on a growing trend in healthcare, St. Louis-based Kadean Construction has been selected to more than double the size of Old Tesson Surgery Center in Concord, in South St. Louis County, it was announced today.
Old Tesson Surgery Center, located at 12639 Old Tesson Road, Concord, is owned by United Surgical Partners International (USPI), which retained Kadean Construction to increase the size of the surgical center from 5,000 to 11,000 square feet, said Kadean President Mike Eveler.
The new construction includes expanding into an adjoining vacant unit in the existing building, remodeling the lobby area, adding a new sterilization unit, and increasing the size of the recovery room area. Kadean also will build a new waiting room area, upgrade the electrical and HVAC systems, and make other enhancements to the expanded facility.
Old Tesson Surgery Center, which is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and fully licensed by the State of Missouri, will remain open during the construction, which will be completed in early August, Eveler said.
“Ambulatory surgical centers like Old Tesson Surgery Center are growing in demand,” Eveler said. “As our nation’s population ages and the need for various joint replacements and other out-patient surgery continues to grow, these centers provide excellent medical services to patients across the country.”
Old Tesson Surgery Center specializes in Ophthalmology and Orthopedic surgery. USPI is among the most successful ambulatory surgical networks and owns and operates more than 285 surgical centers nationwide. It serves more than 1.3 million patients each year and maintains strategic joint-venture partnerships with 4,000 physicians and more than 50 health systems across the United States.
Kadean Construction, one of the fastest growing and most successful construction companies based in the St. Louis area, specializes in pre-construction, design-build, construction management, and general contracting in the medical, retail, commercial, and industrial sectors.
In addition to Old Tesson Surgery Center, Kadean has recently completed ambulatory surgical centers in Missouri, Kansas, Indiana, Michigan, Florida, and Wisconsin.
Kadean also has undertaken major construction projects in recent years for BJC Healthcare, Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Siteman Cancer Center, and other major medical facilities. According to Eveler, expanding its medical construction portfolio is part of Kadean’s continuing growth strategy.
