S. M. Wilson & Co. has officially broken ground on Hallsville R-IV School District’s Primary School addition and renovation project in Hallsville, Missouri. S. M. Wilson is serving as the Construction Manager at Risk for the 31,000 SF addition to Hallsville Primary School which includes an eight-classroom second grade wing addition, new gymnasium and storm shelter.
On June 19th, Students, staff, board members and residents from the local community came out to celebrate the start of the District’s bond construction project. At the groundbreaking ceremony, which took at the Hallsville Primary School, students turned ground and posed for photos and community leaders spoke about the project’s importance to the Hallsville R-IV School District.
Construction will be complete by the start of the 2020 school year. Klingner & Associates is the architect.
This is one of the first K-12 projects to break ground under the Missouri statute signed into effect on July 1, 2016 that allows Construction Manager at Risk contracts for public projects. The Construction Manager at Risk delivery method makes transparency, collaboration and efficiency a primary focus on construction projects. The CM provides a full range of services including planning, estimating, constructability, budgeting, scheduling, safety, quality control, subcontractor management and onsite project oversight. In collaboration with the school district, the CM follows a qualification-based subcontractor selection process and provides a Guaranteed Maximum Price, which minimizes financial risk to the school district.
