Wiegmann Completes Work at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington

/

Wiegmann Associates has completed design/build HVAC and plumbing work as part of a $25 million modernization project at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor, Washington. Wiegmann served as the HVAC & plumbing design build contractor and Engineer of Record (EOR) on the project. The Korte Company was the general contractor.

The 74,000-square-foot project at the U.S. Navy’s premier Pacific Northwest naval aviation installation included the renovation of a 43,000-square-foot hangar and administrative building; and construction of a new adjoining 31,000-square-foot, two-story addition. Together, the renovation and addition provided space for maintenance, building support, squadron tactics and administrative offices to accommodate the Navy’s EA-18G Growler aircraft and squadrons. The energy-efficient facility is expected to achieve LEED Silver Certification by the US Green Building Council (USGBC).

Wiegmann’s scope of work included HVAC, plumbing and radiant heat systems, and high- and low-pressure air systems to deliver compressed air throughout the facility and the flight line for tools, work stations, aircraft cooling and pressure testing. They removed an existing steam and two-pipe heating system, retrofitted the existing two-story office building with a new HVAC system, and renovated plumbing throughout the building.

Wiegmann completes HVAC Projects The Sheridan Senior Living Facilities

/

Wiegmann Associates has completed design/build HVAC work at three new The Sheridan senior living facilities in the St. Louis region. Wiegmann was the Engineer of Record, installing contractor, and on-site project manager for the HVAC and Building Automation System at all three facilities. The owner, developer and operator of The Sheridans is Senior Lifestyle Corp., a closely held national company based in Chicago, Ill. that specializes in senior housing communities.

Wiegmann most recently completed the HVAC work at The Sheridan at Chesterfield, a $31 million, 84,000-square-foot assisted living and memory care facility with 91 units. Wiegmann previously completed HVAC design/build work at The Sheridan at Laumeier Park in Sunset Hills, MO, and The Sheridan at Creve Coeur in Creve Coeur, MO.

The high-efficiency HVAC systems were engineered by Wiegmann to reduce first costs and long-term maintenance, and will save the owner $25,000 per year in energy costs across the three facilities, as compared to the original design. Wiegmann’s HVAC system design also improved humidity control and reduced noise levels while increasing usable interior space.

Construction of the three facilities created more than 425 construction jobs and nearly 300 permanent jobs. Brinkmann
