The Korte Company Begins Construction on $19.5 Million Project at Oak Ridge (TN) Unanium Processing Facility

The Korte Company has begun construction at the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The $19.5 Million Design-Build project includes the design and construction of a Construction Support Building (CSB) at the facility.

The three-story, 64,000 square foot building includes a centrally located main lobby with access to the second and third floors. Along with the main lobby, the first floor also includes a reception area, a large dining area, file storage and a warehouse area with forklift access.

The upper floors contain private offices, conference rooms, break rooms as well as restrooms, print rooms and storage areas. Mechanical, electrical and telecommunication rooms are centrally located within the facility for maximum efficiency.

When complete in the summer of 2017, the facility is expected to receive USGBC LEED Gold Certification.

The Korte Company, founded in 1958, is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri with offices in Highland, Illinois; Norman, Oklahoma; and Las Vegas, Nevada. The company manages, on average, an excess of $200 million in annual construction volume.
